Matt Erdmann has been
a practising Consultant Plastic Surgeon since
1998. He is Senior Plastic Surgeon at the University
Hospital of North Durham.

Matt
Erdmann qualified MBBCH from the University
of the Witwatersrand, and subsequently
obtained his FRCS(Eng) Surgical diploma
in the UK followed by the FRCS(Plast)
Intercollegiate diploma specialising in
Plastic Surgery.
He practises as a Consultant in the NHS
at both the University Hospital of North
Durham and Sunderland Royal Hospitals,
and is Clinical Director within the Department
of Plastic Surgery in both.
He was the first hand surgeon to introduce
Endoscopic Carpal tunnel decompression
to the UK in 1988, and has published numerous
papers relating to hand surgery. His interests
are in reconstructive surgery particularly
breast, pelvic, upper and lower limb,
microsurgery, hand surgery and ear reconstruction.
He currently has over 40 published peer-reviewed
articles and book chapters, and has also
produced numerous instructional DVD’s
and videos.
